Dear reader,
I have a degree in Biology, a Master’s in Ecology and Biodiversity Conservation, and a Ph.D. in Biotechnology and Biodiversity from UFMT – Federal University of Mato Grosso (Brazil). In my doctoral thesis, I defended my research in the field of Medicinal Plant Bioprospecting, exploring species traditionally used by ancient peoples as remedies for various types of problems.
I worked as a professor at UFMT, Fasipe, and in postgraduate courses at CPAF. Currently, I am an Associate Researcher at ICNHS (Institute of Natural, Human, and Social Sciences at UFMT).
I have also been involved in the management of scientific research projects in partnerships between the Federal University and the private sector, carried out by ABAM (Biodiversity Collection of the Southern Amazon) and LIT (Laboratory of Tropical Ichthyology).
My interest in plants and people’s knowledge about them began in 2005 when I had the privilege and honor to meet Prof. Dr. Germano Guarim Neto (on the right in the photo below), who later became my advisor and a great friend.
Since then, I have been dedicated to investigating the traditional use people make of plants and correlating it with scientific articles that prove their healing powers.

In this first edition of the book, I took care to include herbs that are found in various parts of the world. These are herbs that were carried during colonial and exploratory periods. Additionally, many of them are sold dried in natural products stores and herbal shops. Finally, in most cases, several herbs can address the same health issue, allowing for substitution.
The book is in PDF format, which can be read on any computer, smartphone, or tablet. Alternatively, it can be printed using any inkjet or laser printer.
